Hello, my name is David Ackers and i'm 27 years old. I just despise Germans. I don't understand why they had to invade Belgium when they're a neutral country. They don't even have a part in this war! Belgium is just so little and the Germans knew that that Belgium's military wouldn't be able to stand up and win against there's. So because of their "plan", were in war. World War 1. I'm greatful that my wife is a nurse in this war so I know she's safe and close, but I miss my Dominick so much. He's only 3, turning 4, and he's growing up without his parents at his side. I also miss my horse, Jazz. We had to take it to an animal care center so it would be taken care of until we get back. I just hope that this war ends soon. "I'm coming Dominick. I love you".
Britain is basically in this war because Germany and Britain have some militarism issues. We think our navy is way better. But we had to compete to see who’s was better. While they started to build their navy, they also sent oversea colonies.
Journal one: December 8th
The other day the Archduke Franz Ferdinand got assassinated in Austria- Hungary. This was one of the biggest reasons why we are in this war right now. A group of Serbians called, The Black Hand, came over to Austri-Hungary and shot the Archduke and his wife. I was afraid that this would be the start of it all.
Week two: December 15th
The plan for Britain is to go to France and Russia and help them fight against Germany. We have planes, machine guns, trench guns, bombs and so many awesome weapons to use. Most of us will be in the deep trenches. Those things are so dirty and people are getting diseases by the minute.
This propaganda poster is used to get men to come and join the military and help fight for our country. It uses the recruting technique.
Jounal two: December 15th:
It was hard for us when Russia left because now it was only us and France. But luckily the USA entered so even though it was hard, it wasnt as bad when they came.
Week three: Christmas Break:
For Christmas break I got to go home to see my boy Dominick, my wife, and my horse jazz. We had an amazing Christmas. Dominick was so big and handsom. He had just turned 4 and he was already so tall. My horse jazz was sick and probably going to die soon. But at least I wont be there when it happens. She has been in our family for so long. Even before Dominick was born. We will probably get another one when the war is over for good and I get to stay home.
Week four: January 5th
I wish that this war would just end. Who cares who has the better navy. Its not worth having to risk lives to see who wins the stupid contest.
